Frosting:

Frosting is a thick, creamy mixture that is used to cover or decorate cakes and cupcakes. It is usually made with butter, powdered sugar, and flavouring, such as vanilla or chocolate. Frosting is thick enough to be used to create designs and decorations on cakes and cupcakes. It can also be piped onto baked goods using a pastry bag and decorating tip.

Types of Frosting:

There are several types of frosting, including:

1. Buttercream Frosting: Buttercream frosting is the most popular type of frosting. It is made by creaming butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. Vanilla extract or other flavourings are added to give the frosting its flavour.

2. Cream Cheese Frosting: Cream cheese frosting is made by mixing cream cheese with butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. It has a tangy flavour that pairs well with carrot cake and other spiced cakes.

3. Whipped Cream Frosting: Whipped cream frosting is made by whipping heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks. Powdered sugar and vanilla extract are added for sweetness and flavour. This type of frosting is light and airy and is perfect for topping cakes and cupcakes.

Icing and frosting are important components of any baked good. While they are similar, they have different consistencies and uses. Icing is a thin glaze used for drizzling, while frosting is thick and used for decorating and covering cakes and cupcakes.
